Dear Parents,
Students will present their portfolio containing ~20-30 of their best (favorite) pieces on Presentation Day. Throughout our 5 week course students are taking pictures on their digital cameras. They should be downloading the files regularly at home and clearing off the camera memory.
Parents, please help your child to review their photographs and evaluate which ones are their favorite and best pieces for their portfolio. The JPEGs should be put in a folder on their USB jumpdrive labeled “(Child’s name) Portfolio” so we can download just those 20-30 photos at school for our presentation. Students should also include at least one self-portrait in this portfolio. Please understand that we will not have the time or even the technological capacity to do this portion of work during school time, and that this is the expected homework for this department.
Students should also have a project folder labeled with “(Child’s name) (Project title)” to contribute photos for our class project. Each department will collect photos determined by the department group featuring a theme.
Both folders–the “Portfolio” and the “Class Project” pictures JPEGs need to be submitted on digital files (on USB jumpdrive or CD-disk) in the largest file size available.
Please make sure that students come to school prepared with their tools and materials (camera with fully charged batteries, jumpdrive with pictures in folder, etc) so that we can have productive work time at school. Again, please allow me to emphasize that these JPEGs should be already screened, selected and organized so that I can quickly transfer just the “portfolio” and the “class project” folders. We have a lot to do in class, and I will need your help to make sure that your child follows through on this homework so we can be ready for our presentation.
Thank you for your help and cooperation. It should be fun to look at the pictures your child has taken during this department time.
Aloha,
Gingerlily
