Green Eggs and Ham – Read Across America on March 2nd

Next week on Friday, March 2nd, we celebrate Dr. Seuss’ birthday and “Read Across America”. This has always been a very special day for the students at the Museum School, because we will have a Pajama Party Birthday Celebration!

Students may wear their pajamas in school and snuggle up to a good book in the morning during DEAR (Drop Everything And Read) time. If your child is bringing a book or a blanket, please make sure that their name is on it.

In the afternoon we will be going to the park as usual, so please make sure that your child has good walking shoes and appropriate cloths to change into if they need it.

We also look forward to a yummy school-wide breakfast featuring non-other that green eggs and ham that our parents come in to make for us.

We hope you will be able to participate if you can. Please check in with Jane and send in some yummy breakfast items if you can. We can always use paper goods and plastic utensils as well.

Thanks for your help and support and we hope to see you that day!

PS- I’m performing with Asian Story Theater at the Marie Hitchcock Puppet Theater on March 3rd and 4th in the “Year of the Dragon”. Showtimes are: 11:00, 1:00, & 2:30. If you’re looking for something to do with the kids, it should be fun.

Also this weekend I will be appearing in the Golden Child at the 10th Avenue Theater and Art Center. Curtain is 7:30pm Friday and Saturday.

Thank you for our Valentine’s Breakfast!

Thank you all for our lovely breakfast. We had a wonderful Valentine’s Day.
Students took Unit 6 Math test this week and have reviewed some of the problems in class. I have sent them all home. Please take some time this weekend to go over the trouble areas again and remember to send the bottom of the test letter back to school with your child.
We are working on fractions and probability in Unit 7. As you go about your regular activities, it would be helpful to discuss fractions as you cut a pizza or share some fruit. Make sure your child has brought home the Family Letter and that it is in a safe place to review homework with.
Have a wonderful long weekend! See you on Tuesday.

-PS if you are looking for some interesting activity, I will be appearing in the play “Golden Child” this weekend and the next at the 10th Avenue Theater space on the 4th floor.

Unit 6 Math

If you have been following along with the homework and the Family Letter, you’ve noticed that we are close to finishing Unit 6. Students should study their test notes this weekend and we will take our Unit test on Monday.

Have your child practice doing division showing work and using “partial quotient division”, round numbers to the nearest ten-thousand, measure and draw angles, and plot ordered number pairs on a coordinate grid.

Also, Tuesday is Valentine’s Day. If you are able, we would appreciate some breakfast goodies on Tuesday morning.

Thanks!

Happenings…

Friday is Picture Day for the Elementary program. Please remember to send in your check and order form if you would like school pictures. We are hoping for 100 percent attendance so we can have a class picture with everyone in it.

Students are rotating again in their Language Arts Classes. Please make sure that your child remembers to bring their Writer’s Notebook to school if they are coming back to the Writer’s Workshop.

Valentine’s Day is coming up. If you are able, we would like to have a Valentine’s Day breakfast in our homeroom. Please let your child know if they will be able to bring something into share. We’ll make some plans together in class.

Friday March 2nd is Dr. Seuss’ birthday, so we will be celebrating with our annual Read Across America-Museum School Green Eggs and Ham Pajama Party. Jane has already started asking for donations for breakfast and volunteers to put it together. Come and join the fun!

Opportunity tickets and Gala event tickets are now available. These fundraiser are very important to helping us meet the general operation cost for our school. Please help us if you can. We are also looking for donations of things for the baskets and silent auction.

The Elementary program are working on some plans for our “Explore the City-Week”. If you have any great ideas or contacts for some special opportunities please let us know. We’ve already got some very cool things planned for the week of May 14th.
