Sometimes people are interested in the Theater Projects I am involved in. This weekend Asian Story Theater will be opening “The Musical Paul Gauguin”. This is a play that my husband wrote and directed about the post-impressionist French artist, Paul Gauguin. I am assistant director on the project, and it is a production I am very proud of.
Gauguin was quite a complicated character and live a true ‘bohemiam’ life, so the subject matter is not appropriate for young children. But If you are looking for a really interesting night out, come see this show.
There are also some wonderful surround events happening around the project:
At the Centro Cultural De La Raza November 12 & 13 there is a “Goganismo!” Exhibit featuring works of local artists inspired by Gauguin.
November 18, and November 20th At the Bali Hai Restaurant on Shelter Island- there will be Tahitian Dance.
November 19th the show will be at the studio of Healli’i's Polynesian Revue. There will also be Tahitian Drumming and Dance before the performance.
November 25th, 26th, and 27th the show will be at the San Diego Maritime Museum, where there is a special Gauguin exhibit featuring over 100 pieces by Paul Gauguin.
